Volunteer Day At The Mattapan Square Farmer’s Market
On July 8, 2023, several Norfolk Hardware employees and managers spent the day volunteering at the local Mattapan Square Farmer’s Market, hosted by the Mattapan Food & Fitness Coalition.
Norfolk employees spent the day handing out gardening supply buckets, donated by Norfolk Hardware & Home Center, as well as hosting live container gardening demonstrations for farmer’s market attendees.
The Mattapan Square Farmer’s Market is a community event every Saturday from July – October, promoting and supporting locally-produced and healthy foods. Many businesses also come together to give away backpacks, bikes, coupons, and more items to members of the community.
Who Is The Mattapan Food & Fitness Coalition?
The Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition (MFFC) is a “collaborative organization, bringing together Mattapan residents, organizations and others to work on improving the food and physical activity environments in Mattapan.” (MFFC Website)
In addition to the farmer’s market, MFFC hosts many programs for Mattapan residents throughout the summer, including fitness classes, walking groups, cooking classes, gardening seminars, and more.
